It's always fun taking our pug, Xander, to my parents' house. We got back, last night, from a trip to Louisville to visit my parents. After their last poodle, a standard named Maisy, died of a brain tumor, I doubted that they would get another dog for awhile. However, they have ended up adopting Indy, a toy poodle. Indy belonged to my grandmother, but she was having difficulty caring for her. Indy just turned a year old and she is extremely energetic. Xander always has to be dominant so he has a tendency to follow her around with his mouth on her back, so she ends up covered in drool. However, when Xander tries to rest, she get her revenge. She pesters him relentlessly by barking at him, poking at him, and so on. He'll chase after her, but then she runs to one of the people in the room and hides on their lap. Fortunately, it never escalates to fighting.
Too funny! When I go visit my mom, my girl's back is always drool covered, too.
I hope your parents get a lot of joy out of their new girl. It must be a relief for your grandmother, too.
