This week, I posted a couple of new (new, to my shop, that is) vintage jewelry items in my Etsy shop. The first is a necklace that I found in an antique mall in Louisville. I've had it for some time because I was trying to find out what the stone was. However, I haven't had much luck. I thought it might be abalone, but it's a little muted for that. Others have guessed black-lipped shell, labradorite, and even a butterfly wing. I'm not sure I'll ever find the answer, so I just went ahead and posted it. I love the stone though. It has great color and depth.
Second, I posted a moss agate and sterling silver ring that I also found in a Louisville antique mall. It's a gorgeous stone and ornate band. However, it's tiny. The ring won't even go over the first knuckle of my little finger. I think it's a size 2. Whoever can wear this will need some tiny hands!

wow that necklace is so nice. imagine the history behind it.

I would say the pendant, is an organic gemstone from millions of years ago. I cant remember the name of it though, and cant seem to find it either. That is what it looks like to me. The ring is lovely, and I will be looking at it in your store. It would definately fit my pinky.

Ok now I remember. It about drove me crazy, trying to remember the name of the stone. Then I had to remember which blog it was on, because I forgot to save it. Jeez it is hard being me sometimes lol. Anyway I am positive the pendant is Ammolite. It is a very rare form of opal. It is organic, and is millions of years old. It is rather valuable and collectible. If you go to wikipedia and type in Ammolite you will get some very good info. I am so glad I remembered.
