I decided I've had enough and canceled all the paid advertising on my EC widget. I get frustrated seeing the same paid ads over and over again. I'm so tired of some of them that I've made a mental note to never go to their respective site again. I'm not talking about the blogs that have bought the occasional paid ad on EC - heck, I tried it once myself - but the ones that I see week after week. Am I the only one who is that tired of them? I'm going to think about it for awhile, and I may eventually just limit paid EC ads on my blog to non-profit charity groups and blogs about crafting, and possibly, animals. For now though, I'm leaving it at EC credit-only ads. I have Project Wonderful on my site for anyone who wants paid ads. Anyway, if I see that woman's ass one more time...
I agree, some of the ads are just too much. I've tried to only allow ads that are crafty/arty or something that I like or feel will be a good match with my blog. I deny all the rest of the ads.

I just dropped over 150 EC and out of those, I probably saw the same exact ad in the widget on about 80% of them. It's over redundant and defeats the purpose.

Glad to read what I was thinking, too. I'm new to the Entrecard program, but talking to a friend, decided not to go with the paid ads.

Amen!!! I thought the same thing and wondered if anyone else was as sick of that ad as I was!

Agreed. Most of the blogs I drop on these days don't accept the paid ads though, so I don't have to look at them too much. But when I accepted paid ads, I still limited it to ads that were at least tangentially relevant to my site - that's my policy with Project Wonderful ads, too. I think it's more useful for both the advertiser and the publisher to have related ads.

Ughhh I can't stand that ad. And there are a few others too. Right now I allow paid ads to run on my site, but I check them out before they are approved. I absolutely refuse to allow any ads that are distasteful or just plain ugly looking to run on my site.

After a while, I think they give up on your site and don't ask to advertise anymore. At least, that's what happened with me. You still might see that lady, though...

Yep, I'm also tired of seeing that same posterior over and over and over and over...
I can respect promoting one's blog, I really can. Heck, I wouldn't be making my nightly round of EC drops if I didn't. ;) But isn't part of being a savvy marketer knowing when you've crossed over from successful self-promotion into creating a backlash against the very thing you're trying to promote?

Agree;you said it well!

I have done the same thing on my blogs, at least for now I am only accepting EC credit ads. The other issue I had was the paid ones seem to last forever, I had some on my site that I accepted on the first day, and were still running weeks later.

Me too, I cannot stand that ad with the woman's butt with a hand holding the blog's title. That was too much and it's sickening, I could puke.
I thought I was the only one who had this feeling.

Good for you! After a week of paid ads I wrote a post explaining why I wouldn't be accepting any more paid ads - however they still kept coming so I created a badge. Now there are around 20 of us trying to push for a better system where we can permanently opt out of paid ads. Funnily everyone on the list has noticed a massive drop in paid ads - what a relief! Join us if you like?

I don't accept the paid ads on my blog either. I don't think it's fair to everyone else when they use their credits to purchase and then they have to share the spot with someone else.

lol.. I hear you!
I'm still accepting and will until I'm teed off I suppose. I only accept what I consider reasonably tasteful looking ads

I never accepted ANY paid ads from the start.
It doesn't benefit me at all...
and yes I couldn't agree more! I make it a point not to click on paid ads on EC widgets since I don't know if the site actually has a EC widget for me to drop on :)

There are so many ways to promote a business both online and offline. Each have their own set of advantages and disadvantages, and a business owner should test as many of them out as possible to find out if it's worth the time and/or money investment.

Advertising is extremely important. It is the fuel that brings in new customers from which you can create long-term repeat customers.

Great information that business owners can use to stay alive during this time of recession.
