I'll be selling my jewelry at Comfest, Columbus Ohio's biggest festival, this weekend. My friends and I were lucky enough to get a booth this year. My boothmates include Kristin Ellis, Heather Wirth, and Meghan Willis. The festival runs all day from June 26 - 28. Whew, that's going to be a lot of time selling for us! I'll have most of the jewelry offered in my shop as well as some new pieces that I don't plan on listing unless they do not sell this weekend.
As you all likely know, my catbutt earrings are my best sellers. I decided to have a little fun and create some styles that, while not realistic (as far as I know ;)), are fun and timely. For example, the above style features various colored flowers for my Spring Fling Catbutt Earrings. Likewise, below are my American Catbutt Earrings with a red, white, and blue motif. Doing the same styles over and over can bring about burnout, so you gotta have a little fun now and then! Both styles are available in my Etsy shop.
Thanks to my parents, I've developed somewhat of an affinity for antique malls - the kind where loads of vendors have their own booths and showcases. Whenever I'm visiting them in Louisville, we always hit either the local Traderbakers or the antique mall in the Middletown area of the city. However, it occurred to be that I had not checked out any antique malls here in Columbus. I figured, if Louisville has one, Columbus must have one also. I found Heritage Square Antique Mall through Google and checked it out last weekend. I was very impressed. The booths at Heritage Square had a much more cohesive feel than other places I've shopped. Above, you can see a photo of a booth with a Soap Box Derby focus. Below is another booth that impressed me with their selections - I especially love the very unusual white and orange chairs although there is no way my rear end would fit on the tiny seats. I'd have to use both chairs! They also had employees who walked around and would take anything you were carrying around to the front where they put the items in numbered cubbies. They'd give you a little disk with the number of the cubby on it so you could retrieve and buy your items when you were ready. This was helpful for me since I was walking around carrying rings and necklaces. One of the rings I found, a really unusual vintage dog ring, is currently in my shop, and there's more to come! While I'm generally looking for things to sell in my Etsy shop or use for my jewelry, I always find things for my own home. I couldn't pass up the adorable Japanese salt and pepper shakers pictured below!
