The Nesting Earrings are my most recent addition to my Etsy shop. I based these on a tutorial I saw and adapted them to create these stunning birds nest earrings. The "eggs" are steel blue freshwater pearls. The "nest" is made out of thin sterling silver wire. The frame and hook are sterling silver also. These were quite a bit of work, but also fun to create! This is what I do to keep my hands busy while watching TV.
My recent trips to the antique mall have paid off in some really interesting vintage and antique items. The above tambourine earrings Ifound especially cool since they still had their original earring card with them.
In the particularly cheesy "so kitschy it's cool" category, I found the brass belt buckle you see below. I'm rather astounded at the detail on that van! You can see the passenger side window through the front window. Pretty elaborate! This particular piece is stamped 1978 on the back...which would have made me 4 years old when that buckle was produced. Ahhh, the van-centric 1970s!
Last, is the piece I had to do the most research on. Below, you'll see a modernist Swedish pendant on a silver-toned chain. The pendant is pewter. The back is stamped with "Tenn" and an underscored "R." The "Tenn" seems to refer to Tennesmed, a Swedish company that has been in business for many years, making pewter baubles. However, I'm unsure what the underscored "R" stands for. There are a couple of Tennesmed designers I've seen, Rune Tennesmed and R Landerholm; there may be more. I can't figure out which one used an underscored "R" as their mark. I've seen lots of Tennesmed pendants with flowers, horses, viking ships, and cats, but I'm not seeing any others like this!
In preparation for Comfest, I made a lot of new piece that I did not list on Etsy. Why pay the listing fee if the piece is going to sell at Comfest very soon after I made it? Several pieces did sell there, however, I'm not listing the items that did not sell at Comfest. My next craft show isn't until August, at the Ohio State Fair, so I think it's worth the listing fee to put them "out there" now. I've remade my Cherish Earrings with bigger pink amethysts. I have some charoite nestled in a herringbone weave. I've also embraced the open hoop style. You can see several of the new items, listed in my Etsy shop, below. More items to come soon!
